Forest School

There are so many exciting things to do at Forest School...

Forest school gives the children wonderful opportunities to show all of Hampton's values in a less formal environment. As you can see, the common value shown in every picture is Enjoyment.

Hawk's Forest School Sessions

Year 5 are having a fantastic time at Forest School this term. They have made zip wires, chopped wood and cooked filled pittas over the fire.

Year 5 Forest School

On Tuesday, Year 6 went to Forest School for their literacy hook lesson. It was wet and muddy but they definitely enjoyed it! There they made Christmas dinners for dragons, lairs for dragons and dragon sneezes. This will be linked to Christmas writing.

Meeting Edgar at Forest School

We have visitors in Year 4! In Acorn's class we have 10 grey partridge eggs in an incubator. After a nail biting afternoon and a lot of patience (both children and teachers) we now have one chick! 'He' hatched at 4:39pm with a little help from Mrs Finch, our resident bird expert, as he had the shell stuck on his head. Please watch the video to see it happen.

Plant your roots at Hampton!

‘Plant Your Roots at Hampton’, is an amazing Key Stage 1 initiative where we asked parents and carers to buy a tree or shrub which would then be dedicated to their child and planted in our new forest school area. The parents had the opportunity to write a special message to their child which was then etched into a plaque, this was then tied to their tree, so that the parents and child can watch it grow during their time at Hampton.

The children and adults had a wonderful time planting their trees and plants together.

Welcome to 'The Meadow', Hampton's very own Forest School!

In March 2018 we will be opening our fantastic new forest school at Hampton!

This week we have started our pilot programme and have been working with small groups of children from Year 2 and Year 5 in The Meadow. The children have the opportunity to explore and take part in various activities during the afternoon, such as mini beast hunting, den building and helping to make firewood! Please take a look at our photos of the children's adventures!

Forest School is a distinctive method of outdoor education which allows children to become independent, resilient, reflective learners that are able to openly communicate and work in a team. Forest School offers children opportunities to achieve, develop their self-esteem and evoke a curiosity about the world around them. Children are encouraged to take controlled risks in order to achieve small but rewarding tasks, using their own personal learning style in order to succeed.
