Hi Year 1 - we hope you had a restful and fun weekend and are ready for week 2 of home learning. We have planned lots of different challenges for you to have a try at and complete. Please use your purple books to record in - remember the sheets do not need to be printed, but can be used to help you record in your books. Please stay in touch via Tapestry - if we can help you in any way (not just with home learning) please do not hesitate to message your teacher - we have really enjoyed seeing all your amazing home learning and fun activities. We will be having another zoom call on Friday which we are all looking forward too and of course the whole school and individual class advent story calendar will continue throughout the week.
Stay safe, keep in touch and have fun!
Mrs Burkitt, Mrs Saelim, Miss Norman, Mrs Bryant and Miss Siddall
Today you have got Maths, Literacy, Handwriting, Phonics and Art/Computing. Remember you can always do reading via the Oxford Owl website, phonics via Phonics Play, My Maths, Spelling Shed and Numbots shold you wish to do anything extra.
This week we are moving onto a different area of maths - numbers to 20. Today we are thinking about counting forwards and backwards from 20. Watch the video and then complete the challenge below. You will need to work out the missing numbers on the number line/track on the page. If you don't have a printer you can create your own number track with missing numbers in your home learning books.
It is important to focus on number formation and to remind your child that a 'teen' number will need a 1 at the beginning.
Here is the link you will need for the first video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u8tpjZtx9WQ
I have attached some number cards to 20 along with the word document. You can carry out different activities with these, such as ordering the cards to 20 and taking away some numbers. Your child can work out the missing cards.
Watch the video below and then use your Purplemash login to find your task.
Challenge - using your purple mash card, log on: https://www.purplemash.com/sch/hampton-ct6 type in your username and password to find today's task - designing a Christmas jumper.
If you are unable to use Purple Mash I have also uploaded a design sheet underneath to print out or you could draw your jumper design straight into your home learning books.
This week we are going to be looking at a different style of poetry called acrostic poems. Today you will be listening to some examples, reading them again and talking about what you notice.
This week in phonics we will be revising lots of the recent digraphs and trigraphs that we have learnt in school.
To get your brain warmed up please watch the video below and join in. The first time you need to say your letter names, then your letter sounds and then both together. Can you do the actions for each sound too?
This week we are looking at long ladder letters. Don't forget you can log into Letter Join if you want to practise them on your computer.
