Good morning everyone.

 

Our OPAL fun run is tomorrow. We are very excited and cannot wait to see our children take part.

 

This week, I met with the children and explained that this is their race. If they do not want to take part, or they want to skip sections of the course, that is ok. We do not want children to do something they are uncomfortable with. A map of the course has also been shared with the staff and children, so they are aware of what is happening beforehand.

 

It is going to be cold tomorrow and luckily no rain. As it will be 1 degree, we will not be using the water pistols. Instead, we will be bouncing balls, and the children will have to dodge them. This has been explained to the children also which they were excited about.

 

Each year group has a time slot throughout the day. Those year groups who will be taking part in the morning, we are asking to come into school in old clothes and trainers (and a change of clothing). The year groups are:

• 9:15 – 9:45 – Reception classes
• 9:45 – 10:00 – Woodlands Class
• 10:00 – 10:30 – Year 1
• 10:45 – 11:15 – Year 5
• 11:30 – 12:00 – Year 2

 

Those in the afternoon times will come in school uniform (or own clothes if they won the award last week) and get changed into their old clothes to take part. These year groups are:

• 1:00 – 1:30 – Year 3
• 1:45 – 2:15 – Year 4
• 2:30 – 3:00 – Year 6

 

Children have shared they have received lots of sponsors, which is great. This event will really help the OPAL team move forward and add to the already amazing provision our children have access to and enjoy.
