29.01.21 - PE

We are continuing our topic of Tag Rugby this week, looking in particular at how to throw a rugby ball. Below is a great video explaining how you should stand and pass the ball to your teammate.

If you have a rugby ball at home to practise with in an open space, then have a go at passing the ball to someone or simply throw it and let it fall on the ground. If you do not have a rugby ball then do not worry, you can use any type of ball you have at home, or alternatively roll a pair of socks together and throw them instead. Set yourself a challenge to see how many throws/passes you can do in 2 minutes!

Once you have practised throwing a ball, it is time to get your heart pumping with this 18 minute workout with Joe Wicks!

25.01.21 - PE

Today in PE we are looking at seated overhead throws. If you have a ball at home that you can use (does not matter what type/size) then please have a go at this activity! If you do not have a ball at home to use, you can roll a pair of socks together and throw them instead. Below is a very short video showing you what a seated overhead throw should look like...

Make sure your arms are bent behind you, you are sat upright and you can bend your legs if you wish to give you extra power behind your throw.

Your task today is to begin practicing throwing the ball. You do not have to throw it against the wall, you could throw it outside and see how far you can get it. Once you have practiced a few times, set yourself a challenge to see if you can throw the ball a certain distance e.g. put a marker (could be a piece of paper, beanbag, cone, jumper, anything that will stay still on the ground) 3 big steps away and see if you can throw the ball that far.

Once you have completed your challenge, cool yourself down with this cosmic kids yoga...
