Today we are going to have a go at planning and carrying out an experiment all about shadows! We will begin with a recap of what an opaque object is and what a shadow is before moving on to plan our experiment. I have attached the planning sheet if you wish to print at home, or you can just write the equipment list, steps and prediction straight into your home learning book. For the experiment you will need a torch (can be from a phone or tablet), a piece of measuring equipment (e.g. a ruler, measuring tape) and an opaque object (e.g. an apple/orange, a toy car, lego model). You will need to change the distance of the object from the light source and see what happens to the shadow as the object gets further and further away (hopefully you should begin to notice a pattern). Once you have completed the experiment at home you can write or discuss your conclusion and evaluation about how the experiment went and what you found in your results. Please do let me know if you have any questions - goodluck scientists!:)
