Additional safety measures and planned actions in order to protect our community have been implemented. We have completed in-depth risk assessments and we will continue to review our practice to ensure we are doing everything we can to keep everyone as safe as possible whilst providing exciting curriculum experiences. Below are some key bullet points, which will hopefully reassure you should you

  • Children will return in school uniform to provide a sense of the old normal and a feeling of belonging to a community.

  • Children are to wear their PE kit into school on the set PE days, (information can be found on class pages on the website).

  • Larger equipment and resources will be shared within class groups and each class will have their own bank of books for home reading, which will then be cleaned, on return to school.

  • We have purchased pencil cases for every child as pens and pencils are most likely to be chewed; these will be for your child to use and are not to be shared.

  • Any other resources for other subject areas such as PE, art, DT and science will be either cleaned frequently, and always between groups using them, or rotated so they can be unused and out of reach for a period of 48 hours (72 hours for plastics) between use by different groups.

  • Although, against everything we teach our children about collaboration and kindness, we will be explaining to children that everyone should avoid unnecessary sharing and contact. Unfortunately, in this current climate this is essential to continue to keep everyone safe.

  • The well- being team and/or members of the SLT will be on gate duty every day to support our most vulnerable children on their return. The foyer will not be open for parents as it is a small contained space with limited ventilation. If you wish to speak to the class teacher or member of staff please make an appointment by calling the school office or via Class Dojo or Tapestry.

  • The staff have been busy planning a full and rich curriculum with a focus on pupil wellbeing, personal, social and emotional development. Teachers will be assessing children’s learning so that we can quickly fill in any gaps in their knowledge and skills focusing on phonics and reading, increasing vocabulary, writing and maths.

  • Breakfast and After School club will resume from 7.30am – 8.25am and 3pm – 5.15pm. Children will be grouped in year group bubbles.

  • There will be no tuck shop in term 1&2.

  • We will model and adhere to the social distancing guidelines as set out by the government, as much as we reasonably can.

  • Enhanced hygiene measures have been implemented, including more frequent cleaning and hand washing.

  • We will contact you if your child displays symptoms of COVID-19 so they can be taken home and allowed to self-isolate or be tested.

  • Most importantly please be assured we will continue to support your child’s wellbeing and personal and emotional development as we know safe happy children will adapt, grow and learn.

Working in complete partnership with you is crucial as we build our recovery from COVID-19. Please note the points below, which we ask of you as parents and carers -

  • Please notify the school as soon as possible if your contact details have changed.
  • Please inform us if your child or anyone in your household has symptoms of COVID-19 (i.e. a high temperature, a new, continuous cough or a loss or change to their sense of smell/taste) - please do not send your child to school and follow the latest guidance.

  • If your child shows symptoms of COVID-19 please arrange for testing. If you receive a positive test result please inform us immediately.

  • Please collect your child as soon as possible if we contact you explaining your child is displaying COVID-19 symptoms.

  • It is extremely important that you drop and collect your child at the specified times using the designated entrance and adhere to the social distancing rules set out by the government so together we can keep everyone safe. Please do not turn up early or late as this will have an impact on the next year group arriving or being collected.

  • Access to school in term 1&2 will be through prearranged appointments. Any routine contact needs to be made via telephone or email unless absolutely necessary.

  • Please do not let your child bring in any items from home other than their lunch box and school bag with reading book.

  • Please remind your child about good hygiene practices, such as: regularly washing their hands thoroughly; avoiding touching their eyes, nose or mouth, coughing or sneezing into their elbow or a tissue and disposing immediately of any unused tissues.

Thank you in advance for working with us, we know that this year is going to be very different for everyone. We look forward to the time when we can welcome parents and carers back into school and return to being the Hampton community that we take great pride in. Until then, together, socially distancing we can make this school year as positive and safe as we can.
