Term 6 - Week 1 - 1.6.2020

Dear Parents and Carers,

We hope you have made lots of happy memories and enjoyed the sunshine during half term.  Welcome to Term 6.  Our new topic is 'Fairy Tales' in this topic we read and make up our own versions of fairy tales.  We tell and make up our own stories.  It is also a term where we will begin to think about moving to Year 1 and preparing for this transition.  During this time of home learning we will continue to support you and your child with weekly activity packs, support and any advice.  Please continue to email us or contact us through Tapestry if you have any questions.

This week our handwriting letter to learn is 'w', please use the letter Join website or watch the handwriting video on Tapestry to see the correct cursive formation of this letter.  In Phonics we will be learning the digraph 'ar' and the phoneme 'z'.  The children will use their sounds to read words and simple sentences.  Children can access a reading book on the Oxford Owl or Collins Big Cat website.  Please read books to your child for pleasure.  We will be writing words and sentences, always make sure when writing the children have their sound mat to support them.  In Maths we are exploring capacity, using and understanding the words full, nearly full, half full, half empty, empty, nearly empty and beginning to measure.  We will continue a focus on the beach and will be making up seaside stories.  We will continue to add weekly well being activities to the website.

There is no need to print any resources, when needed just use paper, pens and household objects.  You will need some empty containers and a special stone, pebble or shell collected from the beach or garden.

We hope you enjoy the activities this week.

Keep well and safe.
