Hi Year 1 Children, Parents and Carers - or should I say Jambo!
Did you enjoy the sunshine? I know I did, my Saturday morning run was so much more enjoyable looking out at the clear blue sky and the still sea!
This should be our last week of home learning (I can hear all the parents letting out a huge cheer! 😂) and whilst we are still busy making sure all the learning on the website matches that being taught in school we are also getting ourselves prepared for welcoming you alll back to school. We are really very excited to be seeing you all again. Please keep checking Tapestry for updates about returning to school and how we will be working together to keep each other safe.
We are continuing with our journey to Africa - finding out some more interesting facts to use in our non-fiction books. In maths we are still thinking about number and place value, and there are lots of fun activities for you to complete linked to our topic.
Can I please say thank you again for supporting us with the home learning, I know it has not always been easy but I am hoping that your children have found the learning fun. I know that some of my parents have fed back saying that they have learnt things too, which was nice to hear too! I can honestly say that in my many years of teaching this has been the hardest challenge to date and just when you think you have got the hang of it, the situation changes and we have to adapt again. Seeing the work that is uploaded onto Tapestry and speaking to the children in the zoom calls is what makes it worth it, but it will be so much nicer to just be speaking to real life children rather than imagining them answering back to my questions!
So, that just leaves me to say - enjoy this week. Keep sending us your work, keep in touch if you have any questions or concerns and let's do this!
kwaheri (goodbye) from Mrs Burkitt
