Welcome to Foundation Stage 2026

Our topic this term is:

'Let's Find Out!'

Foundation Stage learning in term 5:

This term our topic is ‘Let’s Find Out!’, we are hoping the weather will be warmer so we can do lots of outside learning.  We will be looking at plants; how they grow and how to look after them.  We will explore the school  environment and how the seasons change around us.  At the end of the term we will be learning about dinosaurs and Mary Anning who discovered the first fossil, this is always a favourite with the children!  We will be using a range of texts to help us with our learning including: 'Grandpa and Lollipop's Garden Safari', 'Jasper's Beanstalk', Oliver's Vegetables', 'Jack and the Beanstalk', 'A Stroll Through the Seasons' and 'The dinosaur Lady'.

In Phonics we will be continuing to read and write words, listening and looking carefully for the digraphs and trigraphs we have learnt.  We will be encouraging the children to write a sentence independently with a big focus on capital letters, finger spaces and full stops.

In Maths, we are building numbers beyond 10, looking at patterns in counting, adding and subtracting and revising number bonds to 10.

We look forward to a busy term enjoying the nicer weather in foundation stage.
