We are very pleased to be welcoming the pupils into Year 3 for the start of the new school term. We hope that you all had a relaxing and restful summer break and were able to enjoy plenty of the sunshine!
As pupils move into Year 3, they starting an exciting time in their education and are now the youngest children in the Juniors.
As you may know already our topic for Terms 1 and 2 is ‘Explorers and Invaders’. This is an exciting topic, which the children have already started learning about. During Term 1 we will be focusing our attention on the Anglo Saxons by learning about how and when they lived. In Term 2 we will be learning about some famous explorers such as Sir Francis Drake and Christopher Columbus. We kick started our topic with an ‘Anglo Saxon’ day, where the children got dressed up and learnt all about the Anglo Saxons!
As the children are now moving into Year 3 we would like to actively encourage children to not bring in toys or additional games (including trading cards). These often get lost or cause arguments which can waste learning time – there are plenty of activities for children to do during lunch or break times.
Year 3 PE days are on Mondays and Wednesdays, children are expected to bring their PE Kit (House PE shirt, shorts and trainers or plimsolls) into school on those days and should also bring a tracksuit for colder conditions.
In Year 3, children no longer receive free fruit. However should the children wish to bring a piece of fruit in for break time then they are welcome to. Alternatively fruit can be purchased from the hall at break time for 30p.
