Year 3

Welcome to

Year 3

Welcome to Year 3! We hope that you all had a relaxing and restful summer break and were able to enjoy plenty of the sunshine! As pupils move into Year 3, they starting an exciting time in their education and are now the youngest children in the juniors.

  Topic

Our topic for Terms 1 and 2 is ‘Explorers and Invaders’. During Term 1 we will be focusing our attention on the Anglo Saxons by learning about how and when they lived. We are planning to kick start out topic with an ‘Anglo Saxon’ day on Wednesday 19th September where the children can get dressed up and explore Anglo Saxon life (details to follow).

Toys

As the children are now moving into Year 3 we would like to actively encourage children to not bring in toys or additional games (including trading cards). These often get lost or cause arguments which can waste learning time – there are plenty of activities for children to do during lunch or break times.

PE Days

Year 3 PE days are on Mondays and Tuesdays. Children are expected to bring their PE Kit (house PE shirt, white shorts and trainers or plimsolls) into school on those days and should also bring a tracksuit for colder conditions.

Fruit
In Year 3, children no longer receive free fruit. However should the children wish to bring a piece of fruit in for break time then they are welcome to. Alternatively fruit can be purchased from the hall at break time for 30p.
