Welcome to the Autumn term! We hope that you all had a fantastic summer break.
The children have already been working extremely hard in all of their lessons and have demonstrated a variety of our Hampton Values.
Over the next two terms we will be learning all about the Ancient Greeks. We will be looking at myths and legends, the ancient Olympics, Greek art and much, much more! We will be having a Greek theme day during term 2 where you will have the opportunity to come in and see our amazing work. The date for this will be confirmed in the near future.
The current staff in Year 4 are:
Miss Gregory (Class Teacher and Year Group Manager)
Miss Treby (LSA)
Ms Billsberry (Class Teacher)
Mrs Graves (Class Teacher)
Mrs Jordan (LSA)
Mrs Guise (LSA)
Mrs Atkinson (Class Teacher)
Mrs Farmer (LSA)
Miss Green (LSA)
Year 4 PE days are on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, children are expected to bring their PE Kit (House PE shirt, white shorts and trainers or plimsolls) into school on those days and should also bring a tracksuit for colder conditions.
In Year 4, all children will have the opportunity to learn to play the recorder and every class will have a 30 minute slot which will be on Wednesdays. Recorders are provided, but if your child would like to bring their own, please make sure it’s named.
If the children wish to bring a piece of fruit in for break time then they are welcome to. Alternatively fruit can be purchased from the hall at break time for 30p.
This year the children will be encouraged to learn all of their times tables (right up to 12x12) off by heart. Therefore it would be fantastic if you could support your child by helping them to learn them at home. MyMaths homework will be set every term by your child’s maths set teacher.
The children will be given a reading record with a book appropriate to their level. Please listen to your child read regularly and sign their reading record, making note of anything you feel is necessary.
Spellings will be given out on Fridays by their spelling teacher and are expected to be learnt for the following Friday. They need to bring in their spelling book every Friday.
A letter about topic homework has already gone home in a homework folder. This has lots of different ideas for extra learning you could do about Ancient Greece. Please return the homework in the folder at the end of the term and for each completed piece, there is a reward of a token!
